It’s just another ordinary day. It’s not.
An ordinary day would have you visiting. You’re not.
It’s not an ordinary day.
We sat, we chatted, for hours and hours. Coffee, wine, cheese and snacks, our stand against others’ expectations. We shared, we laughed, and yes, we cried.
But that was then, and this is now, and now I cry alone. Laughter, less often, but slowly more and more. And chat; I imagine your replies, and yet it’s not the same. I sit with my mug, my glass in hand, and my empty words fill a hollow heart.
I see your face, as last it was, at peace, and oh so far away. Your fear, now gone, still living in my mind. Your tears are over while still running down my cheeks.
Hold on my friend, hold on to me, for I can’t let you go. The ties that bind are stronger still, I’ll never let you go. In my heart, my memories, our laughter still rings true.
It’s just another ordinary day, for some, but not for me.
